Description:
The Digger was written for percussionist Joe Richards, plays woodblocks, snare, floor tom, lentils and a variety of gardening tools, all accompanied by a pre-recorded tape part where short snippets from Samantha Schweblin’s short story The Digger are read by a disembodied computer voice. The work explores ideas of communication and story-telling, and the ease with which we can be persuaded of someone else’s truth, or, at other times, find ourselves in an endless communication cycle of crossed-wires.
